PTA Newsletter – November 2019

Christmas is fast approaching and we’ve already had a host of PTA-led activity that has been fantastically supported by parents, pupils, teachers and the wider community – thank you for your continued support.

This newsletter will provide you with a round-up of activity this term and also give you dates for the diary.

This term we are proud to unveil our new ‘brand’! We wanted something that encapsulated the spirit of Marlborough and we set the children a challenge to give us words that came to mind when they thought about school. We were overwhelmed with what came back and would like to say a huge thank you to teachers and pupils for their input. Whittling the responses down was a hard task!

We are thrilled that by working closely with the amazing ‘I Loves The ’Diff’ we now have a brand and design that will be used by ourselves and sums up Marlborough – through the eyes of our pupils!

These designs are currently being printed onto Eco-friendly reusable bags and aluminium water bottles which will be sold at the Marlborough Winter Fair on the 23 November – please do come along to what promises to be a fantastic event!

This year to make our funds go further we’re on the lookout for parents who may have access, through their employer, to a match-funding scheme.

We’ve had success already with parents submitting claims to match fund for the Summer BBQ and the Halloween Disco, but we’re always on the lookout for more ways of benefiting our children. If you can help please do contact us through the Facebook page or by emailing marlboroughprimaryc@gmail.com.

As ever, we are keen to hear from anyone who can give up a small amount of time or would like to help support events or has any ideas for future fundraising.

On Saturday 23 November we will be throwing open the doors to the school hall and hosting our first ever Marlborough Winter Fair! With confirmed stallholders including local parents Lou Gray Jewellery, Lottie Stokes’ Tropic Skincare, Liz from Createaparty.uk, Penylan Preserves and Al Hare wooden toys & gifts and Adventures with Doris, plus a few more. This promises to be a fantastic opportunity to get ahead of the game and purchase some Christmas presents.

There’ll also be food from Dusty Knuckle Pizza, a vintage tea and cake stall as well as a licensed bar. And don’t forget this will be the debut for the new Marlborough bags and water bottles – a fantastic stocking filler!

YEAR 4 BAKE FOR BOOKS SUCCESS!

Year 4 pupils and parents kick-started this year’s ‘Bake for Books’ efforts and what a bake sale it was!

Thanks to such generous donations we ran the sale over two days and with a lot of hungry mouths to feed, 4M raised £132 with 4C raising £115.67 – leading to a whopping grand total of £247.67! We are currently waiting for a wish list of books and will donate every penny of this sale back to the year 4 classes so that they can get reading.

The two Halloween discos were a great success, raising over £500, and giving the children the chance to dish out their finest dance moves in their fantastic ghostly costumes!

A huge thank you to teachers for supporting us to enable us to put on this much-loved event.

CHRISTMAS CARDS UPDATE

You should have all received your child’s designs for their Christmas cards and thank you to those who have placed orders. This is the first year in a while that we have decided to do this, as a way of raising money for the PTA.

It’s too soon to know how much this will raise but we’d like to thank those of you who have purchased. We’d love your feedback so that we can decide whether to run similar initiatives in future.

The final order has been placed and delivery back to school should be within the next two weeks.

CHRISTMAS CONCERTS

Earlier in the term we presented to the School Council to inform them of our plans in supporting the school and gave them information about how the PTA is run as as charity. We’re delighted to hear that they’ve decided that money donated at the school Christmas concerts will go directly to the PTA – thank you.
