Name: Jane McGirr

Role: Class teacher

I started my teaching career in Swansea in 1987.  I moved back to Cardiff in 1990 and began teaching in Marlborough Junior School in 1991.  I loved it so much I stayed!  It’s brilliant that Marlborough is now a primary school as I’ve now been lucky enough to have the opportunity to teach Foundation Phase.  It is so amazing to be able to share the learning experiences with the younger children and to see the world through their curious eyes.  I feel so lucky and privileged to be able to spend my day having fun doing something I absolutely love.

Outside of school I enjoy spending time with my family and friends.  I have a cat called Daisy and a black Labrador called Max; they are best pals and enjoy snuggling up with each other.  I love going on long walks with Max.  I enjoy swimming and Pilates and I have recently started playing petanque.  I am hoping to take up paddle boarding this summer.

My favourite place is Three Cliffs Bay.  I used to go camping there when I was a little girl and it brings back such happy memories.

I don’t watch a lot of TV as my two sons usually hog the remote control.

My favourite food is Mexican.  I love to eat tacos, burritos and fajitas.

My top character strength is Kindness.
